Best Ultrabook: Thin Gaming Laptop

5 Dell XPS 13

Dell has made several changes since 2016: earlier this year switched its CPU to the Skylake (Seventh Edition), adds a USB type C port that serves as an alternative load port, and offers to update the storage options.

The latest update keeps it as the best Ultrabook, with the same chassis and a slightly larger battery. Overall it achieves improved performance, with a half hour more battery life during video playback.

The Dell XPS 13 version maintains the balance between portability, compact size, and the performance we like so much. Our only persistent complaint is the small keyboard, but overall, it’s a truly compact ultrabook.

7 Razer Blade (2015): Thin Gaming Laptop

Our former Best Overall has dropped down to the Rest, not because it isn’t great, but because it’s slower and more expensive than the 2016 Razer Blade.

8 MSI GT72s G Tobii: Thin Gaming Laptop

The GT72s G Tobii isn’t a bad laptop (though that name leaves a lot to be desired). It’s got plenty of oomph and it’s the first gaming laptop to have eyetracking built in—which is incredibly useful if you spend all your days play Dayz. Unfortunately it’s also $2700. Which is a bit much—though the eye tracker-less version is a cool $2200.

9 Aorus X3 Plus: Lightweight gaming laptop UK

The X3 Plus is compact, powerful and looks just as awesome as the X7—but you can get the same muscle with better build quality, a lower price and more battery life in the Razer Blade. It’s sweet, but not practical.

10 Alienware 13: Lightweight gaming laptop UK

The Alienware 13 is a pretty great laptop, but the chassis is just a little too meaty to really qualify as “thin” and the built-in 860M GPU is a little too weak. Upgradable external graphics are a nice touch, but pricy. A good option if portab doesn’t matter.

11 Acer Aspire V17 Nitro: Lightweight gaming laptop UK

This laptop’s inch-thick frame makes it a little too big to fit into the “thin” category in our book. If you’re dead-set on being mobile, you’re better off with the similarly-priced Lenovo listed above.

12 ASUS G Series G501: Lightweight gaming laptop UK

The ASUS G501 has a nice chassis, a good keyboard and a slim profile. It’s fine, but at $2,000 you can get a smaller, more powerful Razer Blade for the same price. Move along.

13 Gigabyte P34W v3: Lightweight gaming laptop UK

Yet another perfectly fine Gigabyte gaming laptop that’s just a little too expensive ($1,600) when paired against that Clevo.

14 Gigabyte P35: Thin Gaming Laptop

The P35 is a good 15-inch gaming machine with good internals—but the build quality just couldn’t compete with MSI’s kit. A good alternative to the Clevo if you want a better screen and an optical drive.

15 Gigabyte P37: Thin Gaming Laptop

I wanted to like the P37, but it’s more expensive than competitors and doesn’t offer any advantages in components or build. Unless you need an optical drive, skip it.

16 HP Omen: Thin Gaming Laptop

This laptop is so close to being one of the best, but it’s just not. An amazingly well-designed machine with a gorgeous screen ruined by iffy battery life and last generation’s graphics tech. If HP gives it a serious refresh, it might be something.

17 Origin Evo 15-S: Thin Gaming Laptop

Virtually identical to the MSI GS60 Ghost in every way that matters. A good alternative if you prefer buying from Origin PC for some reason.

18 Razer Blade Pro: Lightweight gaming laptop UK

Like the other Razer Blade I mentioned, but bigger and with a less powerful graphics processor. Not bad if you want a thin 17-inch laptop, period. Only passable if you want to actually play video games on one.

19 Razer Blade QHD+: Lightweight gaming laptop UK

Just like our Best Overall pick, only with twice as much RAM and a gorgeous 3200 x 1800 display—but there’s no way its NVIDIA GTX 970M graphics chip can max out the latest games at that super high resolution. If you can live with that, it’s a great machine for $200 extra.

Second best ultrabook

20 HP Specter 13.3: Lightweight gaming laptop UK

The HP Specter 13.3 is one of the most stylish ultrabooks. One would expect that such a thin notebook will carry a lower-voltage processor (Core M), but instead carries Skylake Core i7-6500U. That puts it on par with other, thicker ultrabooks (like the XPS 13). Combined with its 256GB M.2 SSD, it runs smoothly and quickly during typical work.

HP also made the ports feature: two Thunderbolt 3 ports as well as a USB-C port.

The drawbacks of this modern and stylish laptop are its battery life, due to its smaller battery, and its wider frame. (Hardware configuration and cooling requires a certain amount of space engineering) It is for these reasons that we prefer the Dell XPS 13.

The Best Convertible Laptop

21 Specter x360 13

The updated version, which just released in October, distances it from its predecessor by being smaller, thinner, and noticeably lighter, while still delivering excellent performance and battery life.

Inside the tests with a Core i7 Kaby Lake I do very well the tasks like word processing and edition of spreadsheets, and it handles games like Minecraft and League of Legends in the configuration of image of low resolution. The battery in the tests lasted almost eleven hours during continuous video playback.

This convertible is so good, it is on par with the best Ultrabook. If it were not for the wide aspect ratio trackpad and the low number of ports (only three in total), I could have won.

Best Laptop Ultrabook – Quality Price

22 Asus ZenBook UX305

Asus ZenBook UX305 Lightweight gaming laptop UK, The Best Thin Gaming Laptop
Asus ZenBook UX305 Lightweight gaming laptop UK, The Best Thin Gaming Laptop

The Asus Zenbook UX305F is simply the best offer for an ultrabook that has been seen so far. In the version of 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD is the most economical ultrabook.

The body is aluminum, and the screen is a 1920 × 1080 IPS screen with anti-glare finish. It is also one of the thinnest ultrabooks of today, approximately 12 mm thick and weighing only 2.6 lbs.

The CPU, Asus took a step sideways, with Intel’s Core M on the original UX305 and the new Core m3 on the upgraded UX305. In tests with its upgraded version UX305 m3, the first results say that it is comparable in every way, except perhaps performance.

There are some sacrifices: There is no background lighting on the keyboard, which is pretty standard on any Ultrabook today and the trackpad is a bit small.

Best Luxury or Luxury Laptop

23 Surface Book i7

There is no other way to describe Microsoft’s Surface Book as anything more than a luxury item. The desired configuration with a Graphics Card under the keyboard is only available from $ 1,650 or $ 999 with Windows 10S . But what you get is great.

It starts with a 13.5-inch high-resolution display, a discreet GeForce option, a dual-core Skylake CPU, and exceptional battery life. In addition to being able to remove the screen to use it in tablet form with the pen included is only a major advantage.

The performance in general is near in the first places of the other ultrabooks, mainly in the model Core i7. In the graphics part, including video encoding with acceleration, is up to this configuration.

Best Hybrid Laptop

24 Microsoft Surface Pro 2017

The combination of an Intel Skylake chip, a new keyboard type deck and the help of a faster SSD puts the Pro at a higher performance level.

The reigning winner in this category should come as no surprise, given that Microsoft gave way to the concept of hybrid tablet / portable devices. The Surface series is really an evolutionary step beyond the typical “convertible” devices that separate physically from the keyboard to function independently.

Has a higher resolution screen, great performance, and keyboard and trackpad is far from competitive designs.

The only caveat: Its base price is 949 euros and the essential keyboard cover adds $ 130 to the price and Surface Pen and cost $ 99. (No, it is not included.). This new Surface Pro will be available on June 15, 2017.

Hybrid runner

25 Samsung Galaxy S TabPro

The Galaxy S TabPro is not a Pro-murderer surface, but it is an impressive convertible, even with disadvantages of keyboard and screen behavior of rare dimming.

Samsung’s first convertible is incredibly thin, extremely lightweight, and has a lovely OLED screen. Results very reasonable return on the types of basic tasks that get used and an achievement of nearly nine hours of video playback.

What keeps him out of first place is that it has only one USB port (AC type) and no safety devices including, the screen dims after one minute of inactivity without the option to disable the feature, and keyboard included not Feel comfortable.

That said, the TabPro S costs less than Surface Pro 4, while offering that beautiful screen.

Best Economic Hybrid Laptop

26 HP Specter X2

This 2-in-1 is touch, support the pen, and the same keyboard, but for much less money than a Surface.
If you’re thinking that Surface 3 is the affordable alternative to Surface Pro 4, you’re wrong. For $ 800, the HP X2 Specter offers you 128GB of storage, 4GB of RAM, and the latest Intel Skylake Core m3 series, low power. It also has LTE, so you can easily add your data plan. Oh yeah, you get the keyboard, too.

In the only places where the surface 3 shines is in battery life and portability: The Specter X2 died a little more than an hour earlier in order to charge the battery, and it is half a pound heavier.

But a larger screen of the Specter X2 and a solid performance put well ahead of the surface 3 for tasks of office and home.

Best Laptop for Games

27  MSI GT73VR Titan

MSI GT73VR Titan Lightweight gaming laptop UK, The Best Thin Gaming Laptop
MSI GT73VR Titan Lightweight gaming laptop UK, The Best Thin Gaming Laptop

The arrival of Nvidia’s Pascal-based mobile GPUs has transformed high-end games into laptops for the first time. An example of this is the new MSI GT73VR Titan, with a GTX 1080 mobile GPU with 17.3 inches, 1920 × 1080, 120 Hz G-Sync panel. It offers a crazy-smooth high-frame rate in games at an unprecedented level: We saw a frame rate of over 150 fps to the brim in games like Tomb Raider and Middle-earth shadow of mordor.

This Titan has a couple of drawbacks: The trackpad, for example, are very rigid and require a lot of clicking power and some problems with overclocking, but in general, the GT73VR is an extremely sweet gaming notebook that has what it takes To master his class.

Best portable gaming laptop

28 Alienware 13 (2016)

The five-pound Alienware 13 is a bit heavy for its size, but it’s worth carrying with those extra ounces. It features a magnificent 2560 × 1440 OLED display, a quad-core i7-6700HQ processor, and an NVIDIA GTX VR-1060 for flawless 1080p games. (Yes, you can play at 2560 × 1440, too, if you drop some of the settings … or buy an Alienware amp and pop it on a more robust video card.)

Its extra weight comes from its incredibly sturdy and solid chassis, built to withstand hot climates and players who physically react to the ups and downs of the game. If you are of a more uniform temperament, and really want to get rid of weight, instead you can opt for the runner-up, the MSI GS63VR, which is a lighter pound and sports a bigger screen.

Runner up gaming laptop

29 GS63VR Stealth VR Ready

The MSI GS63VR’s GTX 1060 GPU offers 50 percent more performance than previously found on a gaming laptop for this portability.

The MSI GS63VR exemplifies the performance of the latest generation of NVIDIA GPUs: This gaming notebook sports a 15.6-inch display, a quad-core i7-6700HQ, and a GTX 1060, all with a weight of only Four pounds

Of course wearing a lower weight, makes updates more difficult, and the build quality is certainly less robust than laptops like the Alienware 10 series. Adding to the list of possible negative aspects the screen of the GS63VR, is not very bright, as well as weak audio subsystem.
Despite its drawbacks, MSI GS63VR with its screen, four pounds in weight, can play the latest games at 1920 × 1080. If you opt for it, you can finally have portability and performance at the same time.
